The region’s largest trade event for the project cargo & breakbulk industry

Breakbulk Americas 2026 Overhauls Format to Match a Fast-Growing U.S. Projects Market

Breakbulk Americas 2026 has been redesigned to help companies capitalize on one of the strongest project markets in years, with two full days of concentrated networking, expanded conference programming and new opportunities to connect with shippers and other decision-makers planning energy and infrastructure projects throughout the region.

The overhaul comes as project activity accelerates across the U.S. energy sector, from power generation and grid expansion to LNG export terminals and nuclear development. The U.S. Energy Information Administration says developers plan to add 86 gigawatts of new utility-scale generating capacity in 2026, which would be a record if realized.

As Siemens Energy’s Guillermina del Pino, head of project logistics Americas, said in an interview with Breakbulk, the explosion of data centers is creating unprecedented demand for energy projects and, with it, major opportunities across the logistics chain. “The pipeline is big enough for everyone,” she said at Breakbulk Americas last fall. These are the kinds of opportunities that surface at the event.

To capitalize on them, project cargo service providers need to meet the decision-makers behind the work. That is exactly what Breakbulk Americas is built to do, and this year, it will do it more efficiently than ever.

The 2026 edition condenses the exhibition and conference into two full days, giving attendees more focused time to do business and more reasons to be there. Longer networking activities, including the Executive Summit, Women in Breakbulk luncheon and workshops, are reserved for the day before the exhibition opens. The new format is designed for professionals who want better access to the market, more opportunities to meet face-to-face, and less time away from the office.

“"I recently met with Bechtel, Fluor, Kiewit, and Air Products in Houston, and their message was simple: they want more value in less time,” Breakbulk Americas event director Patrick Hyslop said. “We’re moving to a two-day format because our shippers asked for a streamlined schedule that prioritizes senior networking and high-quality, strategic sessions."

This year’s expanded conference programming across two stages is also built to give businesses a competitive edge. Breakbulk Live will examine the market forces driving project activity, while Breakbulk Voices will focus on practical insights companies can apply to their own operations, partnerships and growth strategies.

Two new forward-looking programs strengthen that offering.

NextWave combines Breakbulk’s long-running Education Day with a new program for young professionals, creating a bridge between students entering the industry and the mid- to upper-level executives already doing business at Breakbulk Americas.

Future Thinkers gives attendees direct access to a global group of industry leaders and academics working to provide guidance for the sector as it looks toward 2045. Like-minded participants will be able to engage directly with Future Thinkers members on the trends and decisions shaping project development in the years ahead.
