Mike Baker

General Manager Ship Operations, Canada SSA Marine

Michael Baker brings nearly three decades of hands-on experience in the marine industry, spanning both terminal and stevedoring operations. He joined SSA Marine Canada’s Ship Operations division located in Vancouver—in August 2018 as a Ship Superintendent and was promoted to General Manager in September 2019.

Throughout his 29-year career, Michael has developed deep expertise in ship and terminal operations, building strong relationships with customers, employees, and industry stakeholders. He oversees all aspects of ship operations, ensuring the efficient dispatch and coordination of supervision, labour, and equipment to vessels. His extensive knowledge covers a wide range of breakbulk commodities, including steel , forest products, logs and complex project (heavy lift) operations.

Originally from Montreal, Canada, Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University with a double major in Geography and Sociology.
