John Vogt

John is the founder of his own consulting firm and brings more than 40 years of global industry experience, culminating in his role as vice president of global logistics for a Fortune 100 company. Following his corporate career, he spent five years as a Professor of Record at the University of Houston–Downtown, teaching MBA courses in International Business and Supply Chain Management.

He has served as a board director and has traveled extensively to advance global trade practices. Throughout his career, John has championed the correct application of Incoterms® as a core element of trade efficiency and effectiveness. In addition to teaching multiple graduate-level courses on Incoterms® and trade agreements, he has co-authored several peer-reviewed research papers on the topic with Dr. Davis, with two more currently under review—making him the most published researcher on Incoterms® globally.

John has also written numerous articles and presented at international conferences on logistics, trade, and compliance. He is co-author of the textbook Business Logistics (Oxford University Press), with Dr. W. Pienaar; its sixth edition is scheduled for publication in 2025.

His leadership extends to professional organizations, having served as a track chair for multiple academic conferences and contributing to the CSCMP as a roundtable president and conference board member.

John holds a Ph.D. in Logistics, an MBA, and a B.Sc. in Engineering. He is a European Engineer (Eur. Ing), a Chartered Engineer (UK), and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK).
