Carter Henson is a dedicated fourth-year student at Texas Southern University’s College of Science, Engineering, and Technology, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation. With a strong passion for environmental sustainability and innovation in the maritime industry, he has focused his studies on decarbonizing marine ports and promoting sustainable practices within the sector.
Beyond the classroom, Carter is actively engaged in research as an undergraduate research assistant, working alongside esteemed faculty to explore solutions that enhance the environmental efficiency of maritime operations. His commitment to real-world applications of his studies was further demonstrated during the summer of 2024 when he interned at Port Houston, gaining valuable hands-on experience in port management, logistics, and sustainability initiatives.
Looking ahead, Carter plans to further his academic journey by applying to graduate school to deepen his biology knowledge and expand his maritime industry expertise. His long-term goal is to contribute to developing eco-friendly solutions that drive the industry toward a more sustainable future.
