Cassia Bomer Galvao
Associate Professor Texas A&M University
Dr. Galvao is an Associate Professor of Maritime Business at the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies of Texas A&M University in Galveston, where she has been a full-time faculty since 2017. Academia is her second career and she has over 17 years of experience working for the private sector in International Maritime Shipping and Logistics in the area of Marketing and Sales, including Business Development and Marketing Intelligence. Dr. Galvao has over 20 academic articles published in peer-reviewed top-notch maritime and logistics journals. She is an enthusiastic member of the global maritime community of scholars and professionals and speaks regularly at conferences and events.
Her current research stream is focused on various aspects of the Blue Economy, such as Port-City Relationship; Green and Sustainable Shipping; Corporate Social Responsibility, and ESG applied to Maritime Business; Port Stakeholder Management, including Maritime Education and Workforce development in the realm of Ports and Shipping Automation and Digitalization. Her teaching experience spans various courses in Marketing and Sales; International Trade and Policy and International Business.
Dr. Galvao’s passion is discovering new things and insights into the world of maritime shipping and international trade to help her students bridge the gap between education and professional development and connect them with the maritime industry members. Dr. Galvao holds a PhD in Social Sciences and a Master of Science in Political Economy both from the Catholic University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). Dr Galvao is a proud resident of Galveston and an active member of the Greater Houston Port area community.
