Sofie Desmet

Director Operations Aertssen Logistics USA, Inc.

Sofie Desmet is Director of Operations at Aertssen Logistics USA, a heavy equipment processing and logistics operation based in Savannah, Georgia. Originally from Belgium, she has spent more than 20 years building a global career in Logistics across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. Prior to Aertssen, she served as Caterpillar's Director of Global Distribution, leading worldwide logistics operations with responsibility for over $1 billion in freight spend. 

Sofie holds a Master's Degree in Business Engineering from KU Leuven in Belgium and is a Certified US Customs Specialist. She has also completed MIT's Data Leadership program, focusing on the application of data, AI, and cloud technologies to business transformation. A recipient of the Caterpillar CEO Award for Process Excellence and Innovation, Sofie is passionate about developing and coaching the next generation of logistics leaders. Originally from Belgium, she now lives in Savannah, Georgia, with her husband and their three boys. When she's not working, she enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and challenging herself at Burn Boot Camp.
