Rail AI Program Director UTC Overseas
Robert Sutton leads UTC Overseas’ Rail AI program, focused on applying AI, digital twin technology, and advanced analytics to dimensional and project cargo movements by rail. He brings more than 30 years of experience across rail transportation, project logistics, complex supply chains, and technology-enabled transformation.
Prior to UTC, Robert served as Executive Vice President at BNSF Logistics, where he led the company’s Project and Rail division. His responsibilities spanned commercial strategy, operations, engineering, solution development, and innovation, giving him direct experience with the technical and operational challenges involved in moving complex and oversized freight. Across his career, he has worked at the intersection of transportation strategy, customer requirements, and execution.
At UTC, Robert is leading the development and deployment of the NOPB rail digital twin and customer-facing clearance platform, working across railroad, engineering, technology, and shipper stakeholders to improve how dimensional cargo is evaluated, routed, and moved.
