Nelly Elder

Nelly Elder is a graduate of Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Sciences in Maritime Administration. Over 15 years ago she entered into the industry as a marine surveyor and spent her first few years in break bulk, container and project cargos reporting and assessing values for cargo claims.

In 2010 Nelly switched to the environmental side of the industry leading the Houston market in MARPOL Annex I and II disposal and recycle from various types of vessels. Having developed Circons disposal capabilities in the product, petrochemical and chemical streams she looked for new challenges within the shipping industry and joined Suderman and Young Towing Company in October of 2022.

Over the years Nelly has had the pleasure of interacting with all sides of the industry from terminals,  heavy lift vessels to chemical tankers which has led to an extensive network of agents, owners, and operators. Utilizing that network has allowed  her to follow her passions and volunteer with organizations like YoungShip to develop and extend networks and opportunities for those in the industry.
