Capt. Surinder S. Mann is a seasoned maritime executive with over 30 years of experience in global shipping and energy logistics. He currently serves as Head of Americas Shipping Operations at Mercuria Energy in Houston. In this role, he strategically oversees the time-charter and spot fleets of tankers, gas carriers, and dry vessels, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient management of diverse cargoes across dynamic international markets. Mercuria is a leading integrated energy and commodity trading group established in 2004. The company trades physical and financial natural gas, electricity, LNG, metals, liquids, refined products, and environmental products from key hubs including Geneva, London, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai, Houston, Calgary, Denver, and Greenwich. Operating across five continents, Mercuria leverages deep local presence and market knowledge to enhance supplier and customer relationships.
Capt. Mann’s progressive career spans from seagoing captaincy to senior commercial leadership roles at Mercuria Shipping, Navig8 Pool Inc., and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC. He has built deep expertise in optimized operations across sea and shore. A Master Mariner with a BSc in Nautical Science, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS), an Associate Fellow of The Nautical Institute (AFNI), and a certified professional with the Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (ASBA).
Drawing from helm-to-desk experience across continents and cultures, from the Middle East to North America, he brings a grounded, globally informed perspective on operational excellence, risk management, and multicultural collaboration in the maritime sector.
