The Port of San Diego is the nation’s specialty cargo gateway to the Pacific with regular trade routes to Latin America, Europe, Asia and beyond. The fourth largest port in California, we are located in San Diego Bay with a natural, deep-water harbor. With two cargo terminals where we specialize in handling project, container, breakbulk and roll-on/roll-off cargo, we have the expertise and room to fit your needs. We handle a wide range of cargo including bags of fertilizer and sugar, windmill components, fermenting tanks, turbines, vehicles, and more. Convenience is also key. Our terminals are located close to regional freeways and feature on-dock Class I rail service.
Coming soon to the Port of San Diego are two all-electric, battery supported Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 Mobile Harbor Cranes. With a total lift capacity of 400 MT, we’ll have the highest lift capacity on the U.S. West Coast with faster offloading speeds. This acquisition is transforming how we do business and allows the U.S. West Coast to handle cargo previously only handled by Gulf ports. Plus, not only are the two cranes all electric, they will also handle cargo moves to support various electrification projects throughout the U.S. Southwest, including project, solar, and wind power.
Another advantage is our designation as a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). Our FTZ is the only maritime access site in San Diego County offering numerous benefits to businesses including duty reduction and deferral, logistical benefits, and cost savings. Target cargo types include breakbulk, project, automotive parts, containers, and beverages.
Our world-class infrastructure and services combined with strategic location also enables us to serve an important role in National Defense. We are proud of our designation as a Commercial Strategic Seaport, one of 18 in the United States.
The Port of San Diego invites you to see why we have the Special Advantage. Our dedicated team is committed to getting your product moving from ship to shore to its destination seamlessly and safely.
