Chair, Education and Training Committee Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers

Rob Gardner is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and has an MBA in International Management. He started his shipping career as a deck officer with Unicorn. He came ashore in 1985, and in 1989 established Voigt Shipping with four partners. The ships agency company flourished to become the biggest non-liner agency company in South Africa and was sold to ISS in 1997 and then to Grindrod in 2000. Gardner has worked for Grindrod since then and is the business development executive responsible for Mozambique and more specifically the LNG developments in the north of the country. He is a past president of the South African Ships Agency Association. He is the current ICS chair of the Education and Training Committee and a lead examiner. He is passionate about tutoring and has played a strong role in the development of the South African ship agency diploma.
 
The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers is the professional body for all members of the commercial shipping industry worldwide, founded in 1911 and awarded a Royal Charter in 1920.
