Arlan Cochran

Team Leader for Logistics, Engineering and Marine Operations NASA

Arlan Cochran serves as the Team Lead for the Logistics Engineering and Marine Operations for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Cochran is responsible for all aspects of the NASA barge Pegasus, which includes cargo shipments, maintenance, and certifications. Under his leadership, the Pegasus has successfully shipped the Artemis I Core Stage, the largest rocket stage NASA has ever built, and the Artemis I Launch Vehicle Adapter Stage to the NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in the last year.

Cochran joined NASA in 2016 as a member of the Facilities Engineering Office at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility. Cochran transferred to the Logistics Engineering and Marine Operations team at MSFC in 2017. Prior to his NASA career, Cochran was an Executive Officer for a government small business contractor and the Logistics Director at MAF for the Michoud Facility Contractor from 2009 to 2016.

Cochran holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Athens State University. A native of Florence, AL, Cochran currently resides in Harvest, AL with his wife, Tracy. They have three adult children who also live in the Harvest area.

It is the first time since 2011 that a launch vehicle will be assembled in the famous NASA hangar and the first rocket since the 1970s headed back to the moon.
